Price Hikes are Aggravating Hunger
Details
Food prices remain high in low-income countries and cause hunger. Multiple crises and structural causes are driving up prices. Affected countries find themselves in a vicious circle of crises, high debt, poor governance and vulnerability.
Governments in the Global South and Global North have the responsibility to swiftly implement structural reforms for a transition to a sustainable, equitable food system. The necessary resources must be mobilized beyond public development financing. Investment in agriculture and rural areas is an effective lever for reducing price pressures and thus also hunger.
