AgriShare

An App Helping Farmers to Produce & Earn More

Find out more on the AgriShare website and download the app on Google Play.

AgriShare is a mobile phone enabled platform that links farmers without assets with commercial or private hiring services for production, processing and transporting.

Why

For decades, smallholder farmers in Africa and Asia have been lacking access to essential equipment and services to improve their productivity, yields and value addition capabilities. Only a few private and public production and processing (hiring) services are available for farming communities. The mismatch between supply and demand is great and for those who own equipment, the level of asset underutilisation is very high.

AgriShare is like Airbnb for farmers. It promotes the effective utilisation of community assets.

How

Agrishare is an App for farmers to rent equipment which is locally available in their areas from a combination of public and private hiring services. Similar to Uber and AirBnB, Agrishare enables farmers and private companies to market their services through the convenience of their smartphone.

Where

A piloting phase is ongoing in Zimbabwe in the first half of 2018. Other countries earmarked are Kenya and Uganda.
