VENRO – Association of German Development and Humanitarian Aid NGOs

The Association of German Development and Humanitarian Aid NGOs (VENRO) is the umbrella organisation of development and humanitarian aid NGOs in Germany. Welthungerhilfe has been a member since it was founded in 1995. The association brings together around 150 organisations from the fields of development cooperation and humanitarian assistance. 

The main goals of VENRO are to make globalisation fair and to overcome global poverty. VENRO represents the interests of its members politically and helps them to increase quality and transparency in their work. The association offer a space for mutual transfer of knowledge and effective networking. Since her election in December 2025, Asja Hanano, Head of the Policy & External Relations team, has represented Welthungerhilfe on the board of VENRO.
