AgriBridge
An African-German Policy Network for Sustainable Agrifood Systems

The AgriBridge Network–An African-German Policy Network for Sustainable Agrifood Systems–was initiated by Welthungerhilfe (WHH) and is jointly facilitated by WHH and AKADEMIYA2063, a leading Africa-based international non-profit research organization.
AgriBridge is a “network of networks” that connects African networks of research organizations, the private sector, farmers, and civil society. It supports German and African policymakers on political and investment decisions to advance agrifood systems transformation in Africa.

It outlines AgriBridge’s vision and key recommendations for strengthening African–German agricultural trade and its potential to unlock mutual gains for food security, nutrition, and economic growth.
AgriBridge seeks to shape agriculture and development policy and provide solutions-oriented and actionable recommendations based on its members´ realities, demands, and opportunities from the ground.
What is the challenge AgriBridge addresses?
The challenge:
- Development agendas are too often shaped by donor countries and major international actors, with limited involvement of stakeholders from partner countries.
- In times of funding cuts and increasing criticism of development cooperation, there is an urgent need for a strategic reorientation of policies and partnerships.
Our objectives:
AgriBridge strives to:
- Amplify the voice of African agrifood systems stakeholders and facilitate their access to and dialogue with key German political decision-makers.
- Sensitize African and in particular German political decision-makers to the fact that their political will and concrete actions play a critical role in achieving zero hunger.
- Discuss and shape African agriculture and agrifood systems policies as well as German development policies to ensure they are better aligned with human rights, in particular the right to food, as well as the needs and realities on the continent.
What we aim to achieve
AgriBridge produces evidence-based policy briefs on a range of key topics, including – but not limited to:
- Rethinking Development Cooperation
- Financing Agrifood Systems
- Trade and the Right to Food
- Climate-Resilient Agrifood Systems
Policy focus: The CAADP Kampala Agenda and German Development Policy
These briefs aim to shape constructive policy dialogue and strengthen decision-making processes.
