WHH Myanmar operates through its country office in Yangon and works in partnership with local and international actors to deliver principled humanitarian assistance alongside longer-term, community-led development solutions
The team currently comprises around 100 staff, implementing programs across multiple locations in Myanmar
Across Myanmar, WHH supports vulnerable populations — including smallholder farmers, elderly people, persons with disabilities, and women-headed households — who are disproportionately affected by compounding crises.
What We Do
WHH Myanmar works across interconnected humanitarian and development sectors to address immediate needs while strengthening long-term resilience. Its programs focus on Humanitarian Action, Agriculture, Climate Resilience and Natural Resource Management, Nutrition and Health, Water, Sanitation and Hygiene (WASH), Economic Development, and Civil Society and Social Empowerment.
Across these areas, WHH Myanmar delivers principled, needs-based emergency assistance alongside community-led recovery and resilience-building interventions that support vulnerable households in navigating compounding crises.
WHH Myanmar Focus Areas
To advance our goal, we work in seven areas.
Humanitarian Action
WHH Myanmar delivers principled, needs-based humanitarian assistance to communities affected by natural disasters and conflict. For example, following the March 2025 earthquake in central Myanmar, WHH provided Multipurpose Cash Assistance (MPCA) and Water, Sanitation and Hygiene (WASH) support at village level in affected areas, enabling households to meet urgent needs with dignity and flexibility.WHH Myanmar delivers principled, needs-based humanitarian assistance to communities affected by natural disasters and conflict. Agriculture, Climate Resilience and Natural Resource Management
WHH supports smallholder farmers facing structural stress, climate-related shocks, and market disruptions. Activities include strengthening agricultural input and market linkages, promoting climate-resilient practices, supporting seed producers, and conducting disaster risk reduction awareness initiatives to enhance communities’ ability to absorb future shocks.
Nutrition and Health
WHH Myanmar integrates nutrition-sensitive approaches within broader resilience and recovery programming, prioritizing vulnerable groups disproportionately affected by crises, including elderly people, persons with disabilities, and women-headed households.
Water, Sanitation and Hygiene (WASH)
WHH supports communities to improve access to clean water through wells, rainwater harvesting, and solar powered and small-scale water supply systems. Sanitation and hygiene are promoted through awareness campaigns, construction of latrines and community led efforts to end open defecation.
Economic Development
WHH supports livelihood recovery and local economic resilience, including assistance that protects productive assets and enables households to resume income-generating activities following shocks.
Civil Society and Social Empowerment
WHH works with community committees and local structures to strengthen participation, transparency, and local ownership of development initiatives, reinforcing accountability and sustainability in fragile contexts.
