General Terms and Conditions
General Terms and Conditions (Conditions of Participation) for Welthungerhilfe e.V. events
With the binding registration for events organized by Welthungerhilfe e.V., the participant accepts the following conditions of participation without restriction in addition to the conditions and provisions of the individual announcements:
§ 1 Scope of application
1. these conditions of participation govern the legal relationship (organizational contract) between the participants and the organizer (namely Welthungerhilfe e.V.). They are subject to occasional changes in content. They are part of the contract between the organizer and the participant in the version valid at the time of registration. Changes that are made taking into account the legitimate interests of the participants and that are announced by the organizer on the Internet or in writing shall be incorporated into the contract without further notice.
2. the contractual partner for the participants is Welthungerhilfe e.V., Friedrich-Ebert-Str. 1, 53173 Bonn.
3. all declarations made by a participant to the organizer must be addressed to Welthungerhilfe e.V.
§ 2 Conditions of participation (applies from 2nd for presence runs)
1. anyone who has reached the age specified in the respective event announcement for the selected discipline is eligible to start.
2. the carrying of baby joggers, dogs and the wearing of earphones or listening to music is not permitted during the run.
3. sports equipment such as handbikes, inline skates, walking sticks, etc. are only permitted if this is stated in the event announcement or if Welthungerhilfe e.V. expressly approves this.
4. the organizer will announce organizational measures to the participants before the start of the event. The instructions of the organizer and his staff must be followed at all times. In the event of violations that may disrupt the orderly course of the event or endanger the safety of the other participants, the organizer is entitled to exclude the person concerned from the event and/or disqualify them at any time. In such cases, there is no entitlement to a refund of the participation fee. Legally binding declarations can only be made to participants by the organizer's authorized personnel, the police and the regulatory authorities. This group of persons also includes the members of the medical services supervising the event, who may also prohibit the participant from participating or continuing to participate in the event if there are appropriate health indications to protect the participant.
§ 3 Health (applies to presence runs)
1. by registering for the respective Welthungerhilfe e.V. events, the participant confirms that he/she has checked his/her health requirements for participation on his/her own responsibility, if necessary with the help of a doctor, and that he/she accepts the health risks arising from his/her participation.
2. the organizer reserves the right to remove participants from the race by medical personnel if the health of the participant appears to be at risk.
§ 4 Registration
1. registration is possible until the respective announced registration deadlines, provided that any participant limits are not reached beforehand. Late registrations are possible at the published late registration deadlines in accordance with the individual terms and conditions.
2. The organizer reserves the right to set a participant limit at any time. Registrations that exceed the limit will not be accepted. If there are more registrations than starting places when the limit is set, the date of registration will be decisive.
3. binding registrations are made online via the relevant websites of the respective organizers after registration with the organizer. Registration by means other than those mentioned above (telephone, fax, e-mail, etc.) is not possible unless this is expressly permitted by Welthungerhilfe e.V. 4.
4. the additional possibility of on-site registration exists for presence runs in accordance with the individual tender documents - provided that the participant limit has not yet been reached.
5. for collective registrations and registrations of relay teams and teams, the following applies: The registrant of the collective registration or the registrant of a relay team or team expressly declares that the conditions of participation are known to all participants registered by him/her and that they accept them without restriction.
6. if a donation has been made at the time of registration, this will be debited regardless of actual participation.
7. registration is binding once the online registration process has been completed and the confirmation email has been received.
8. the right to participate is a highly personal right. Changes of registration to other persons can only be made in person at the race number distribution point of the respective event.
9. Welthungerhilfe e.V. may refuse the registration of a participant without giving reasons. If the registration has been made online and the starting donation has already been paid, this will be refunded to the participant without deductions. The participant will be informed if the registration is not accepted.
§ 5 Terms of payment for donations
1. each donation will be collected by the service provider commissioned by the organizer for timekeeping, registration processing and results recording by direct debit or PayPal and then transferred to the Welthungerhilfe e.V. account.
2. costs incurred due to incorrect bank details or returned direct debits shall be borne by the registrant and will be charged to the participant.
3. the donation will not be refunded if the participant cancels or does not participate. This also applies if a medical certificate is presented.
4. should the event be canceled or have to be changed in its form due to force majeure, official order, severe weather (storm, flood, etc.), assassination or terrorist threats, fire or other reasons for which the organizer is not responsible, there is no entitlement to a refund or reduction of the donation.

§ 7 Timekeeping
1. at events with timekeeping, Welthungerhilfe e.V. will specify a timekeeping system (e.g. Chronotrack). Participants without the timekeeping system specified by Welthungerhilfe e.V. will be removed from the race by the course personnel and disqualified.
2. the results will be presented in accordance with the guidelines of the German Athletics Association if the event has been registered with the DLV. For all other events, the separate announcement is decisive for the presentation of results. If split times are missing or measured split times do not appear plausible, the organizer reserves the right to disqualify the participant.
§ 8 Exclusion and disqualification (applies to presence runs)
1. participation without the chip/transponder provided for timekeeping in accordance with § 7 or reasonable suspicion of manipulation of the chip or timekeeping (e.g. taking shortcuts on the course) will lead to immediate disqualification.
2. the officially allocated start number must be worn clearly visible on the chest. Exceptions are possible if these are specified in the respective announcements.
3. if the start number is altered in any way, in particular if the advertising print is made invisible, unrecognizable, removed or worn on the back, the participant will be excluded from the time classification (disqualification).
4 Welthungerhilfe e.V. reserves the right to disqualify and/or exclude a participant from the event at any time. Reasons for exclusion are, in particular, incorrect personal data provided during registration, a ban imposed on the participant by the DLV or the IAAF, missing split times during timekeeping, suspicion of taking unauthorized substances (doping) or if the organizer or the commissioned medical service has reason to believe that the participant cannot participate in the run or cannot continue the run for health reasons.
5. if participants use the event as a platform for unauthorized activities or similar that damage the reputation of the organizer and/or the individual sponsors, the organizer reserves the right not to allow said persons to start or to remove this participant (group) from the course by the course personnel. This applies in particular to unauthorized or unapproved advertising on the running jerseys/shirts for companies, institutes, associations or similar, especially if these are in conflict with the ethical principles of the organizer or in competition with the sponsors of the organizer.
6. in the event of disqualification for the above-mentioned reasons, there is no entitlement to a refund of the entry fee.
§ 9 Exclusion and limitation of liability (applies to attendance courses)
1 Welthungerhilfe e.V. accepts no liability for health risks in the person of the participant in connection with the event. Reference is made to § 3.
2. if Welthungerhilfe e.V. is entitled in cases of force majeure or is obliged by official order or for safety reasons to make changes to the execution of the event or to cancel it, there is no entitlement to a refund of the entry fee or further claims for damages. This also applies if the event is canceled or changed shortly before or during the event.
3 Welthungerhilfe e.V. accepts no liability for accidents, theft and other damage and is only liable within the scope of the statutory provisions.
4. the above limitations of liability also apply to the liability of Welthungerhilfe e.V. for vicarious agents or assistants, as well as for the personal liability of employees, representatives, vicarious agents and third parties whom Welthungerhilfe e.V. uses in connection with the realization of the event or with whom it is contractually connected for this purpose.
5 Welthungerhilfe e.V. accepts no liability for items stored free of charge. This applies in particular to events at which a clothing drop-off point is set up.
§ 10 Prizes in kind
1. prizes in kind for award ceremonies (e.g. age group awards) will not be forwarded. Participants are not entitled to these prizes.
2. once the official results list for all competitions has been published, no further changes will be made to the placings or to the non-cash prizes on display.
§ 11 Final provisions
1. place of fulfillment and jurisdiction is Bonn.
(2) German courts shall have exclusive jurisdiction for all disputes arising and German law shall apply exclusively.
3. should individual provisions of these conditions of participation be ineffective or should loopholes appear in the regulations, this shall not affect the effectiveness of the remaining provisions. An effective provision that comes closest to the objective and economic purpose of the provision concerned shall then apply.
