WorldRiskReport 2026
The WorldRiskIndex 2026 covers all United Nations member states and thus over 99 percent of the global population. In 2026, risk hotspots remain concentrated in Asia and the Americas, with the Philippines (WRI 46.69) once again ranking at the top of the WorldRiskIndex this year, with India (WRI 44.97) and Indonesia (WRI 44.63) following after. Germany (WRI 4.29) remains in the global midfield, ranking 99th.
The WorldRiskReport 2026 focuses on the topic of storms. Storms are among the most consequential and most costly natural hazards. In economic terms they cause more damage than any other weather-related extreme event, and after earthquakes and extreme temperatures they claim the most lives. The WorldRiskReport 2026 therefore asks: why does the same storm turn into a disaster in one country while its consequences remain limited elsewhere?
