Welthungerhilfe statement on 2025 budget draft

The government's draft for the 2025 federal budget envisages unprecedented cuts in humanitarian aid (-53%) and development cooperation (-8%). At the same time, the number of people affected by hunger is steadily increasing and the world is not on track to achieve the global Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). 

It cannot be the ambition of a ‘coalition for progress’ to distance itself from the vision of a world without poverty and hunger. Cutting humanitarian aid jeopardises human lives.
