UN Food Systems Summit must move from promises to progress

Never before has the world produced more food—yet our food systems are failing both people and the planet.

They contribute to hunger and obesity, accelerate climate change and biodiversity loss, and deepen social and economic inequalities. Transformation is not only urgent but also possible. With bold, coordinated action, we can redesign food systems to fulfill the Right to Food, provide healthy and affordable diets for all, protect the environment, and foster inclusive economic development.

As governments prepare to reconvene at the UN Food Systems +4 Stocktake (UNFSS+4) from July 27–29, 2025, in Addis Ababa, the time has come to shift from promises to measurable, lasting progress.
