Hungry for Justice: 20 Years of Voluntary Guidelines on the Right to Food Overshadowed by Increasing Hunger Crisis
Details
In 2004, 170 UN member states defined the right to food as an economic, social and cultural human right and agreed on a catalogue of measures for its realisation. 20 years after its adoption, more food is being produced worldwide than ever before. Nevertheless, 282 million people suffer from acute hunger and almost three billion people cannot afford a balanced diet.
Although progress has been made, the commitment of governments has recently waned. The factsheet provides a comprehensive insight into the current situation and summarises possible courses of action.
