Contextual Analysis of Nutrition in Karamoja Sub Region, Uganda

A comprehensive analysis of the nutritional landscape in Uganda’s Karamoja region, with insights to guide future programming.

Details

This report presents an in-depth contextual analysis of nutrition in Karamoja, a region in northeastern Uganda facing chronic food insecurity and high rates of malnutrition. Commissioned by Welthungerhilfe and published in early 2025, the study draws on extensive field research and secondary data to identify key drivers of undernutrition among vulnerable groups—particularly children, adolescents, and women. The findings highlight critical gaps in dietary diversity, healthcare access, and resilience strategies, and provide actionable recommendations to strengthen multisectoral responses. This evidence base aims to support NGOs, government agencies, and development partners in shaping targeted nutrition interventions across the region.
