Capability Statement Food Systems 2025
System-transformative impact sits at the heart of our strategy at Welthungerhilfe (WHH). Together with our partners, we aim to nourish sustainable and resilient food systems that provide sustainable healthy diets for all, drive sustainable economic growth and job creation, adapt to and mitigate against the climate crisis, and reverse environmental degradation and biodiversity loss.
We catalyze food systems transformation through multi-sector, multi-level and multi-stakeholder collaboration, programming, and advocacy. They all target improvements in food availability, sustainability, desirability, accessibility, affordability, and consumption. We form strategic partnerships with other food system actors to assess, envision, design, and enact the transformation of food systems.
We conduct food system assessments to identify the most effective leverage points for systemic impact, especially in fragile contexts. Examples of such food systems assessments on the African continent include Burundi, Central African Republic, Malawi, Mali, Liberia, Sierra Leone, and Uganda.
