Welthungerhilfe In Brief

Welthungerhilfe is one of the largest private aid agencies in Germany; politically and religiously independent. The organisation fights for “Zero Hunger by 2030”. Since its establishment in 1962, more than 8,500 projects in 70 countries were funded with a total of 3.27 million euros.

In 2016 alone Welthungerhilfe helped around 8.4 million people – men, women and children – in 407 projects in 39 countries. This means: People could survive, many harvested more, improved their nutrition, now have access to clean water and sanitary facilities, get ill less frequently, can have an income or even a surplus or start a job training. For many children the support by Welthungerhilfe gives them a chance of a healthy physical and mental development.

Welthungerhilfe helps people to help themselves: from fast emergency relief to rehabilitation and long-term development cooperation projects with national and international partners.
